General Management

AIM OF PROGRAM

This Postgraduate Programme on General Management aims to provide high quality education to those aspiring to become the future leaders in this field.

The programme guides students to approach General Management empirically so newly-acquired knowledge and skills are to be mixed with experience and help with real-life problems of the local society. This approach is proven possible because the programme was designed with the ever-changing public policy and local self-government matters and the increased responsibilities of public leaders in mind.

In consequence, the students broaden and deepen their grasp on management matters and policy procedures. As a result the students acquire the much-needed knowledge and specialisation to effectively develop and manage the public resources at their disposal and understand the larger issues which determine policy and finance politics.

TEACHING, LEARNING AND ASSESSMENT METHODS

For each module students are required to dedicate approximately 14 hours per week. Furthermore, for each module students must complete and submit two pieces of coursework.

At the end of the semester students must take written exams either at Neapolis University in Cyprus or at local partner examination centers in Cyprus or Greece.

In order for the student to succeed in a course he / she must achieve, in the written assignment as well as the final examination, a grade of at least 50/100. Students can retake an exam in case they fail. The final mark obtained for a module consists of the sum of the final written exam mark weighted by 0.7 and the average mark obtained from the two pieces of submitted coursework weighted by 0.3.

Business Administration (MBA)

The aim of this postgraduate Programme is to prepare people who are already employed or are about to be employed by providing knowledge, abilities and skills for business administration. The Masters in Business Administration (MBA) aims at providing students with research and analysis skills and strengthening their composition and creativity abilities, while focusing on the vital importance of information and technology, and raising awareness on ethical, social, environmental and international issues affecting administrative decisions.

The Programme is specially designed for:

Those seeking work in the private sector.
Professionals already working in the private sector and are interested in their rapid development within their company.
Those interested in setting up a new business.
Entrepreneurs who are keen in further developing their businesses.

This is a distance learning Programme . For each module students are required to attend a 3-hour class and between four and six 2-hour on-line meetings with the tutor. During the semester, students should study the educational material provided following a specific timeline. For each module students are required to dedicate approximately 14 hours per week. Furthermore, for each module students must complete and submit two pieces of coursework. At the end of the semester students must take written exams either at Neapolis University in Cyprus or at local partner examination centers in Cyprus or Greece. Students must obtain at least a mark of 50% in the written exams in order to pass the module. Students can retake an exam in case of fail. Health Care Management

Theology

Purpose of the Program

The Program aims at the postgraduate education and academic expertise in Theology in order to provide professional qualifications and wider training to people with special interests on this field. In particular, the Program aims at:
• The training of students in order to respond effectively to scientific research and / or their tasks.
• Contributing to the creation of an international environment of Inter-Christian Theology and Inter-Religious Dialogue and Culture with an ecumenical reach.
• Providing high-level postgraduate education to theologians, intellectuals, humanities scientists and other scientists who want to deepen the theological themes and gain training that will help them in their professional and personal creative path.
The program is mainly addressed to graduates of the Departments of Theology, Philosophy, Philology, Pedagogy, Psychology, Sociology, History, Greek and European Culture, as well as other similar faculties and departments. It offers training and career opportunities mainly to clergy and educators, as well as to other professionals working in areas such as journalism and religious tourism.

Structure of the Program

The duration of the studies is three semesters. For successfully completing their studies, students need to accumulate a total of 90 ECTS credits.

In the first and second semesters, students attend four compulsory courses in each semester, while in the third semester they attend only one compulsory course. Each of the courses corresponds to 7.5 Credits (ECTS).

Each course is evaluated by developing an exercise and writing a paper during the semester and examining at the end of the semester. The papers written during the semester correspond to 40% of the final grade, while the final examination is 60%. The active participation of the students in interactive initiatives may also be part of the student assessment and evaluation performance.

In the third semester, students prepare their MA dissertation, corresponding to 22.5 Credits (ECTS). The extent of the dissertation cannot be less than 10,000 words and more than 15,000 words. The diploma dissertation is supported, with physical presence in an accredited education centre in Cyprus or abroad, following specific quality guidelines, in front of a three-member committee.

Modern and Contemporary Greek and European History

Program’s Purpose

The Program aims at the postgraduate education and academic expertise in Modern and Contemporary History in order to provide professional qualifications and wider training to people with special interests on this field. It mainly addresses to holders of degrees of Philosophical and Pedagogical Schools, as well as Departments of History, Political Science, Sociology, International Relations, European Studies, Mass Media, Journalism, Greek and European Civilization, and other similar Schools and Departments. It offers the opportunity of training and professional development to teachers, public servants and other professionals, as well as the opportunity of specialized training to young people who have just obtained their degrees. The goal of the program is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the historical past, of its importance and of its impact on current affairs.

Program’s Structure

The total duration of the Program is three academic semesters. In order to successfully complete their studies, students need to accumulate 90 ECTS. The program is offered in Greek.

In the first semester, students attend four compulsory courses. In the second semester they attend three compulsory courses and one elective course. Each of the courses (compulsory and elective) corresponds to 7.5 ECTS. Students are assessed in each course through a) one written assignment during the semester, and b) final exams at the end of the semester. Written assignments make up 30% of the final grade, whereas final exams make up 70% of the final grade.

In the third semester, students write their MA dissertation), which corresponds to 30 ECTS. The MA dissertation cannot be shorter than 10,000 words and longer than 15,000 words. The MA dissertation is defended orally by the student in front of a three-member committee.

Educational Psychology

The Educational Psychology program focuses on the study of cognitive, emotional and social – cultural processes that are fundamental to education and lifelong human development. The program is addressed to current or potential teachers of primary and secondary education who wish to acquire specialized knowledge of the normal and abnormal pattern of development and learning.

The basic philosophy of the program is the empirical approach to the study of Educational Psychology, where the acquired knowledge and expertise are combined with the students’ experience with everyday problems within and outside the school environment. This approach will help students expand their knowledge, and at the same time acquire a deeper understanding of various topics in education and psychology. Specifically, the students of this Graduate Programme will be trained in depth in the following areas:

Theoretical approaches to learning and their educational applications.
Learning difficulties, especially in the developmental stages of preschool, school and adolescence, with the aim of their adhoc handling or their reference to appropriately trained therapists.
The psychological development field with emphasis on pre-school, school and adolescence and its interaction with learning processes.
The main developmental disorders such as those occurring in childhood and adolescence and their impact on learning outcomes.
Gender identities and their connection to the school context.
Awareness of the roles of the cultural and social aspects as part of the educational interaction with students and parents.
Educational research methods and techniques

The Programme is addressed to:

Graduates of Pedagogy / Education or similar disciplines who are already working or looking for work in the public or private sector, across the spectrum of typical and atypical education
Graduates of Psychology who wish to pursue a research or academic career in Educational Psychology
Managers and employees in public or private schools or training institutions, who are interested in further strengthening and specialization of their knowledge in the field of educational psychology
Graduates of other disciplines (university and/or technological institutions) who wish to broaden their knowledge and skills in an applied field of psychology, whose applications can also be extended to other areas apart from education.

TEACHING METHOD

This is a distance learning Programme. For each subject there will be one (1) training workshop in person lasting three hours and four to six (4-6) skype-meetings with the instructor lasting two hours each. During this period the student should study the educational material following its specific timetable. Each module requires about 14 hours of study per week. Also, in some courses the student should prepare a large-scale written assignment or more small-scale assignments, depending on the nature of the course. At the end of the semester students will participate in written exams at Neapolis University in Pafos, or at local partner examination centers in Cyprus and Greece. The student must be awarded a minimum grade of 50/100 in the final examination and the assignment in order to successfully complete the course. In case of failure the student can be re-examined in the examination period of the next semester. The final grade for each module will be the weighted average of the final (or iterative) written test score and the average of the written assignment(s), based on the weights outlined in the course syllabus.
